Sailing Instructor Training

 

RYA Dinghy Instructor Pre-entry Assessment. (1 day)

The Pre-entry assessment is a short sailing assessment to ensure that candidates who attend the Dinghy Instructor course have the practical sailing ability to become an instructor. During the pre-entry there is little time for practise so all students must be confident they can perform all of the required manoeuvres prior to attempting the pre-entry. For full details of what is included in the assessment please see RYA publication G14 page 47.

RYA Dinghy Instructor Course. (5 days)

This training course aims to prepare candidates to instruct RYA levels 1, 2 and seamanship skills from the RYA national syllabus. An intensive course, time is spent running on water sessions from the syllabus, as well as shore based training sessions. Both single handed and crewed dinghies will be used to instruct from and students attending this course must be familiar sailing a variety of training craft.

RYA Multihull Instructor Endorsement. (2 days)

This training course is to further qualify existing RYA Dinghy Instructors to run the multihull section of the national syllabus. As a short course, time is spent on the water running sessions that work on the multihull specific parts of the syllabus and relies upon candidates having some prior instructional experience in RYA centres. To attend this course you must be able to sail a multihull to the standard of the pre-entry test (not including rudderless).
